Supanova Superheroes Community Care River Retreat
Superheroes Events Limited’s (SEL’s) fundraising activities have continues to evolve and grow through the increasing number of events and activities of the annual Shoalhaven Superheroes Festival (SSF), which now stages and attends events within and outside the Shoalhaven region.
Having previously raised funds for other charities and causes, in September 2018, the opportunity arose to consider fundraising for SEL’s own Shoalhaven Family Facility cause, now named the Superheroes Community Care River Retreat Facility (River Retreat) in Shoalhaven Heads NSW.
The purpose of the River Retreat is to provide additional short-stay accommodation for families with chronically ill kids and/or families requiring benevolent assistance.
The River Retreat is located in a prime waterfront position on the beautiful Shoalhaven River, and can comfortably accommodate up to 6 residents. It has been renovated to a high standard, and has 2 bedrooms in the main house, and 1 bedroom in the self-contained annex.
River Retreat bookings will be able to be made through a sponsoring local real estate business. Other booking arrangement details will become available soon.
To enhance focus on our growing charitable volunteer work, SEL is changing the company’s legal structure. This will enable broader charitable fundraising appeal to support the company’s Charity objects of providing community benevolent accommodation stays.
SEL’s future mission is to provide similar accommodation in other locations.
As part of our Charity strategy, SEL has established Superheroes Community Care (SCC) which will umbrella SEL’s future fundraising and charity work.
Initially, the company’s priority was to raise funds for the River Retreat renovation to achieve respite accommodation standard approval. All required respite work has now been virtually completed, and the final inspection took place and accreditation was successfully achieved on the 30th October, 2020.
Fundraising is now being raised to cover ongoing operational and maintenance costs, as well as sponsorship to part cover / cover the stay costs of families with chronically ill kids or families requiring benevolent assistance.
SEL has already held discussions with other community benevolent organisations to seek involvement, and explore the development of strategic alliance collaborations. The first of these partnerships is with BlueScope WIN Community Partners program, which commenced in September 2020.

We are delighted to announce Guy Leech “Ironman Superhero” as the inaugural Patron of the Superheroes Community Care River Retreat (River Retreat).
Guy is a recognised sporting icon, both in Australia and around the world. He is also the founder of Heart180 Life Saving Defibs, and Ambassador of The Heart Research Institute of Australia.
