We are delighted to announce Guy Leech “Ironman Superhero” as the Inaugural Patron of the Superheroes Community Care River Retreat (River Retreat).
Guy is a recognised sporting icon, both in Australia and around the world. He is also the founder of Heart180 Life Saving Defibs, and Ambassador of The Heart Research Institute of Australia.
Guy’s sporting achievements include:

- 1984 Coolangatta Gold Ironman Champion (43km)

- 1986 Inaugural Winner of the Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Ironman

Patron – Paul Ell
(Shoalhaven SchoolsPOP – Schools “Capes for Community” Awards)
Paul Ell is a lifelong Shoalhaven local who is making a difference in our community. Paul is a passionate believer in the power of volunteerism, and this led him to become involved in Shoalhaven Superheroes as an honorary judge of the Volunteer Service and Beyond Awards since 2017. In 2020, Paul was honoured to be asked to become the Patron for the Shoalhaven Superheroes Schools “Capes for Communities” Volunteer Awards.
His advocacy on behalf of the Smith Family and other local charities and community causes has been recognised over the years, including being named the Shoalhaven Young Citizen of the Year in 2011, and being awarded in 2018 the coveted Tom Harvey Award for Citizenship at NSW Parliament House on behalf of the Australia Youth Trust.
Paul is an active part of the Shoalhaven community, and in addition to his involvement with Shoalhaven Superheroes and the Smith Family, currently contributes in a range of roles including UOW Council Member, Director of Pulse Ltd, Vice President of the Shoalcoast Legal Centre, President of the Shoalhaven Law Society, and a Board Member of Bomaderry Rotary.
Patron – John Martin
(Bomolympics, Galaxy Games)
John is a life member of Basketball Australia, Basketball NSW, and Shoalhaven Basketball, and has been inducted into the hall of fame of Basketball Australia and Basketball NSW. He has been the recipient of FIBA’s Radmir Sharper Award for contribution to World Basketball Officiating, and is a former FIBA Technical Commissioner and Educator.
He is a member of both the Sydney Olympics and Para Olympics Basketball Organising Committees, and has served as the Basketball Australia Technical Commissioner for Australian junior championships. He has also been a referee, and then a referee coach at the National Basketball League and Women’s NBL.

“Being good community citizens is a passion we share. Since moving to the Shoalhaven, we have had the opportunity through our business, Berry Cool Nursery, to get involved with the Shoalhaven Superheroes.
As the site of the Master & Miss Brix “Buy a Superheroes Brick” donation campaign, we assist with the fundraising for the Superheroes Community Care River Retreat for families with chronically ill kids.
As sponsor Hosts of the ShoalPOP Pop Culture Charity Expo, held over two days, we enjoyed bringing the community together to celebrate the fun of pop culture, and in November 2019, we were proud to also host the Shoalhaven Superheroes inaugural Kidditch World Cup Tournament, an exciting World First achievement.”

AKA Australia’s Batman, Zac is a big supporter of helping others, and over the years, has attended many local community and major events in Australia with his 1989 Batmobile. Zac also helps many fundraising events, and is an ambassador for the Make a Wish Foundation.
In 2014, Zac helped launch the inaugural BerryPOP Pop Culture Expo, and in 2016, became the inaugural Shoalhaven Superheroes League of Legends inductee for his outstanding community service and for the promotion of pop culture.

Christopher Sequeira is a writer and editor of mystery, horror, fantasy, science fiction and superhero material, and works in various formats including prose and comic books & graphic novels. He co-created Master Brix and Miss Brix for Shoalhaven Superheroes.
Chewie Chan is an artist for movies and comics such as Happy Feet, Superman Returns, Iron Man, and Mad Max Fury Road.
